“For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:32-33 NKJV
Got that person in your house that always seems to have the remote control. They are the one who determines what you are going to watch, and sometimes it’s not what you want to watch. We are controlled by so many things in our life, from phones, to schedules, to the famous to-do list, to family, events, just like our television we seem to have things controlling us. Our life seems to rotate around what we are focused on at the time. And we often make the feeble attempt at “putting God first”. That is not what Jesus was speaking about in Matthew, he was telling the disciples, to not “seek” the things of the world, but to “seek” God first. God should be in the center of everything we do, He should not only be first but he should be everything. But when we begin to seek the things of this world, we should seek Him first and then He will add all the things we have need of to us. We get so caught up in seeking the things of this world, that we forget that if we will seek God and His will, He will take care of these things. So let God be what controls you. Think of it in these terms, if you were like a television and you had a remote control, let God be the one that is running it. I promise He will not just randomly flip through channels, He will place before you exactly what you need.
