“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
Luke 9:23 NKJV
When I learned as a kid to tie my shoes, I got in trouble a lot by my kindergarten teacher because I had taught myself to do it wrong. I got the same results or at least I thought I had because my shoes looked tied, but it didn’t take much to untie them. The teacher kept getting on to me because it was not done correctly. She tried and tried to teach me the correct way but I had taught myself the wrong way and I was set on doing it my way. Even though I was spending a considerable amount of time, especially at recess, retying my shoes. There are so many times in life that we want to slide things by the teacher. We want to do it our way. We don’t want to be corrected we want to think that the way we are doing it is right, even though our results show differently. We do not want anyone telling us how to do it. Yet Jesus, the teacher, is always there trying to get us to see His way, to take the right path, to do things correctly. Instead we make excuses, we pout, we get mad, we struggle, we do everything we can to keep from letting Him know we can’t do it. Maybe it’s time you stopped struggling, and lying to yourself, and allow the teacher, Jesus, to come beside you and show you His ways. Let the teacher show you how to tie it right!
