“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28 NKJV
Waiting on a phone call, a text, a big event, it doesn’t matter what it is you are waiting on, waiting is hard. We want the next to go ahead and happen. We want that phone call with the job offer that we have sought after. We want that text back from our child saying they are okay. We want our wedding day, or whatever day you are anticipating to just get here. We make plans and preparation and then we wait. Waiting is so hard because it is ultimately a time when everything is out of our hands. We have done what we need to do, what God has instructed us to do, and now we wait. We hate it because we can’t see what’s happening behind the scenes, we can’t see what God is doing. Sometimes I just wish He would pull back the curtain so I could just make sure He is working on my behalf. But it’s in the waiting that my faith grows, that I learn to trust God even when I can’t see what He’s doing. It’s in the waiting that we learn that God is faithful to His word, and that without the waiting we would not truly be ready for what is next. It’s in the waiting that we learn there is more in us than what we thought, good and bad. Our patience shows, our impatience shows too. It’s a time that God works all the kinks and wrinkles out that we seem to have stuffed away. He patiently brings things into our life at just the right moment, the moment we thought would never come, and most times the moment we have given up on. But God’s timing is perfect. Trust him, he’s never missed a deadline.
