“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
I Corinthians 15:51-52 NKJV
Maybe I’m a little strange for a female, but I love the sound of a group of loud motorcycles. I love the sound as we ride. And I especially love it when there is a large group rolling through, you can hear them from miles away. The closer they get the better it sounds. It’s like thunder rolling through the mountains. They used to call the ride on Memorial Day down Capitol Hill in Washington D.C., “Rolling Thunder” with thousands of motorcycles rolling through the area, it was an amazing sound. It could be heard from miles and miles away, it was meant to remind people of those who had given their lives in battle. Nothing makes my heart pound like this sound, the excitement of the ride, the roar of the engine, there’s no other sound like it. But as I begin to think about this sound, one other sound came to mind, the one that as a Christian we long to hear, the sound of the trumpet blowing. The one that will call all God’s children home! Those who have already died will be raised first and those who are left will be caught up in the air together. Sometimes as children of God we need to stop and remind ourself to be ready and be alert and prepared for that final trumpet sound. We should anticipate that sound, we should every day eagerly await that sound. Are you ready, are you anticipating that sound or are you just used to the noise of life? Today and everyday make your heart ready, ready to go when the trumpet sounds. No one knows the time or hour in which He will call His children home. Are you ready to hear that sound?
