That’s Sharp!

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

We seem to misuse the Word of God at times, we use it as a weapon to hurt others. We want to prove our point so we use the word, sometimes out of context. I hear people all the time use the scripture in Matthew that says, “Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” They are usually trying to tell people not to judge them, usually because they like the sin they live in. But they are using the scripture out of ignorance, the scripture doesn’t say what they are wanting it to, it simply says get yourself right so you can help your brother get right. How do we do this by using the Word of God. Not to cut our brother down or hurt them, but to allow the Word of God to cut things out of our life. Once people begin to see how God is transforming you, and the fruit in your life, they will want to follow too. The Word is not to kill people or hurt them with, it is spoken to bring life, to transform, and to cut away only that that harms or brings strife in our life. So stop cutting people with the Word and let it do what it was designed to do, to “pierce our soul & spirit, joints & marrow, and even thoughts & intents.”
