Squirrel

“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”

II Corinthians 10:5 NKJV

Ever had that one crazy squirrel that runs out in front of you. He scurries in one direction and then another, all the while you are praying you don’t run over him. In your mind you think, just turn around and run the other way. He can’t seem to make up his mind which direction is best and in turn is going every direction all at once. Sometimes I feel like this is how many people’s mind works. They allow their mind to go one direction and then another. I think to some extent we all battle this, keeping our mind focused and on task. We begin to pray or read our word and the next thing we know we are thinking of what we are doing later tonight, or making out our grocery list. We try to pay attention to a sermon and the next thing we know we are thinking of every other thing imaginable. We in our mind are like the squirrel just trying to get to the other side of the road. But in the journey from point A to point B we scurry one direction and then another, trying to make up our mind which direction to go. We try one way and get scared and then turn the other direction only to find resistance. Our mind races in every direction, not able to land safely anywhere. Christ tells us to submit every thought to Him. To give him absolutely every thought we have. Maybe just maybe if we slowed down and truly gave Him each and every thought, we would not be in the crazy circumstances that we are. Maybe if we let our minds rest in Him, we would not be scurrying around trying to find our place. Today is the day to begin to calm your mind down and allow God to get you to the place you are going safely.
