Sprinkle or Pour?

"But— When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.”

Titus 3:4-6 NLT

I recently saw a church sign that said “sprinkle love and kindness” a really good sign and well intended. But personally I think it’s time we stopped sprinkling things and started pouring out, especially love and kindness. People went to great extremes to be near Jesus, to hear him teach, to watch him heal people, and to be touched themselves by him. They followed him in great multitudes for a good reason, He didn’t sprinkle anything, he poured out on them. He gave them everything He knew they could handle and then turned around and gave more to the disciples because He knew they could handle more. We live in a generation that needs more of Jesus, they need more love and kindness, but they also need truth, not sugar coated twisting of the truth. It’s time as the church that we learned to speak truth with love and kindness. Some will not receive, but others will, it’s not for you to decide who you speak truth to, it’s simply for you to speak truth with love and kindness. When people know how much you care, then they care how much you know and ultimately who you know, Jesus. So start pouring out the love of Jesus on people, stop just sprinkling Him here and there, hoping for the best results. Pray and seek the leading of the Holy Spirit, and then pour, pour out what has been given to you. Freely I received, freely I give!
