Spring Cleaning

“For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land.”

Song of Solomon 2:11-12 NKJV

It’s this time of year that people begin to clean things around their house. Maybe a closet that everything has been collecting in or a garage that has gotten piled up. Everything from window seals to baseboards, or maybe you take on the chore of power washing your house or even washing your windows. Seems like the list is endless of areas that need cleaning. But every year I am reminded that if I put off the lengthy list of spring cleaning jobs, it only gets worse. The mess continues to build up or the dirt just keeps building up until it’s next to impossible to get it clean. Taking the time to clean is no fun, it’s definitely time consuming, and is my least favorite thing to do. But once I have done it, it feels amazing! Like a huge weight has been lifted. Like I can breath again. Why don’t we do this with our spiritual life, why don’t we take the time to get rid of things that don’t need to be in our life. Why don’t we take time to get ourself right, to take care of ourself, to sow into ourself spiritually. Why don’t we quit ignoring those areas that we need to deal with and dig in and take care of those issues, otherwise they keep getting worse and then it’s harder to deal with them. So take a moment today and realize what are the things you need to take care of in your life. And then get to it, stop putting it off!
