Rusty Old Trucks

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” I Peter 2:9 NKJV

There is something about old trucks that intrigue me. The thought of what they once were used for and what they looked like in their “hay days”. Trucks were created for purpose, they were used for specific jobs and duties. All sorts of trucks like the tow truck, dump truck, semi truck, cement truck, lumber truck, water truck, or even the stock truck. We use trucks for all sorts of jobs, today’s truck is made to handle many jobs. But it’s the rusty old trucks that I wonder, did they serve their purpose, did they do what they were created to do. If they could talk would they tell of days gone by, of tough times, and hard work. Would they tell the stories or families, and communities, of miles traveled and things seen. How we too are like these trucks, have we done what we were created for, have we done the tough job, and handled the hard times? Have we impacted our families and our communities? Have we seen and been in the places that God wants us in? Have we traveled the extra mile to help someone in need? Or have we played it safe and taken the easy road. God didn’t create you for the easy road, he didn’t create you to play it safe. He created you to go the distance, to take on the hard things, and to be in the difficult places. Don’t live out your life unused. Life your live for what you were created for, God’s glory!
