“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 NKJV
I’m quite sure that automobile makers strive to keep us confused. I just get used to one vehicle and where all the buttons and gadgets are only to get another one and have to learn where everything is located all over again. I simply wanted to turn the windshield wipers on in my car and yes in my new car it is much simpler and that is great. But my brain refuses to automatically make the new move, it wants to reach for the same thing that it always has. It’s simply insane how hard it is to make your brain not do what it is used to doing. Isn’t this the case in everything we do, we are so used to turning to a certain thing for comfort or when we are stressed, but we know we need to do something different. It’s like our soul is screaming out that’s not what I need, but our brain is so accustomed to doing a certain thing we just automatically begin to do what we have always done. Maybe your’s is your language, maybe you’ve always cussed your way through life, but now the Holy Spirit is convicting you of this and yet your mind has not been told this new information or maybe it has been told but it just wants to hang on to the way things have always been. It’s a difficult thing to do, that’s why Paul tells us we must be transformed, we have to retrain our brain to think differently and more importantly to respond differently. Maybe its time we started being intentional about how we respond to life.
