“And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.”
Hebrews 11:32-34 NKJV
These people and so many more, possibly you have viewed the Bible as stories, not necessarily thinking how real these people are. Maybe you see them as simple bedtime stories or made up tales from long ago. To be told in times of need or looked upon as a simple lesson. The scriptures are not simple Bible stories or made up tales. These are people, real people just like you and I who faced circumstances far beyond what we could endure. They stood against adversity, they changed the course of their life and others by their faith. How many times we look at these people and do not comprehend how real their life was, how many challenges they faced and over came, how many failures they had, yet they kept going. These are real people, people who understand what it is like to walk in faith. We know how their life ends, we know how God comes through because we read it. But they were just like you and I, they too had to trust God because they could not see the end. So the next time you read the Bible remember you are not reading a fairytale, you are reading about real people. These real people are people we can learn from, people that we can relate to, people who can inspire us.
