“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” James 4:7-8 NKJV
Ever find yourself taking a moment to remind the enemy that he has no authority over you. That he is messing with the wrong person. The popular saying for Christians over the past few years has been, “Not Today Satan!”. Which is a great thought to keep in the forefront of our minds. But sometimes we get so caught up talking to the enemy, that we forget to talk to ourself. It tells us the first step is to submit to God! We must first and foremost, seek God and submit to His will. It doesn’t stop at that though, scripture specifically instructs us to draw near to God and allow Him to draw near to you. And most people stop there, but it goes on to tell us to clean our lives up, to stop living like the devil and then pretending to be a child of God all in the same breath. There is more about this passage of scripture then simply resisting the devil. If we are going to resist him we had better have all of heaven backing us, we don’t stand a chance on our own. So remind yourself not only today, will I resist him but I will resist him everyday. Not only will I submit to God and draw close to Him today, but each and everyday I will seek Him. Each and every day I will cleanse myself from all that the world has placed upon me. And each and every day I will line my mind up with the Word of God.
