Let the Light In

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.””

John 8:12 NKJV

I love spring time, with the birds singing, the flowers are blooming, and the warm sunshine is beginning to be felt. You can’t help but feel new life coming into the world and a joy that is resurfacing in people’s hearts and minds. Even the earth and animals seem to know that their is new life happening. But my favorite part of spring is being able to open up the windows. I love feeling the warm breeze and the bright light coming into the house. This is true in our spiritual life also, when we have gone through hard seasons, winter type desolate seasons. We often stay closed off, guarding ourselves from hurt or harm. But just like going from winter to spring, we have to open up, we have to let the love of God in. We need His light, we need life to be brought back in. Even though we are guarded we have to let the light in, it is the best thing for us. To let His love drive out all the things that are bringing death to us. We need His joy to penetrate the dark crevices in our life. We need the light. So today open up the windows and let the light in your house, but also open up the windows of your heart and let the love of God come in!
