Get some Rest

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.””

Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

I hear people all the time say, “I’m so tired”. Don’t get me wrong I know the trials and hardships of having a young family and living just absolutely so tired that I couldn’t think. I remember the days of having an infant that required no sleep what so ever, I remember going weeks on end with no sleep. So I certainly don’t ever take the season I am in for granted of actually getting to sleep more than 4 hours at a time. And I completely understand what it means to be tired. I know the days of working full-time jobs while keeping an active youth ministry going, all while maintaining and cleaning our youth facility, as well as our church, and keeping our own house clean and going all while raising two young daughters. I get it, I understand tired. But I also understand rest in the Lord. I know how he can give you true rest. How he can literally take a few hours of sleep and make it feel like 12 hours. I know how he can reset your system and take away the tiredness. Much of our tiredness comes from the mental state we find ourselves in, of feeling completely overwhelmed by our current circumstance. Sometimes we need to take a breath, slow down and give God time to restore what we have depleted. Take time to rest for a moment, take time to just rest in the arms of Jesus. Let him give you true rest. Otherwise you won’t have to worry about your next season, you will have run yourself out in this one. Today, make time to rest in him, the length of time is not as important as the quality of the time you spend resting in Him. Today Rest!
