Famous Last Words of a Fool

“The fool has said in his heart, “ There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.”

Psalms 14:1 NKJV

The song by George Strait, Famous last words of a fool, hold the words “You won’t break my heart” and “I don’t love you”. We are famous for the words that we allow to fly out of our mouth in times of hurt or anger or even rage. Or maybe just making sure we have the last word. Words they we intended to guard us and keep us from being hurt, but we hurl them at others to make sure it hurts them. Defense is our game, and words are the weapon we use to win. We tear down the person we love, say things we don’t truly mean, all to protect ourself, and our own prideful nature. We have the, I’ll hurt you before you hurt me mentality. When we stop to realize what we are doing, we see that we are playing the part of the fool. Fooling ourselves that we are justified for what we are saying and doing. We think that God doesn’t hear our words or see our actions. But ultimately we are portraying the fool, thinking that our words do not matter and that we will not be held accountable for our actions. Maybe it’s time to stop playing the part of the fool, and stop allowing our words and actions to make us be the fool. Don’t allow your foolish words to be the last thing that someone remembers. Let the love of Jesus be what they remember about you!
