Don’t Miss the Point

“And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.””

Luke 10:41-42 NKJV

Ever get so caught up being busy doing. I love accomplishing things, I love checking things off my to do list. I love doing things that I can actually see progress in. Sometimes I get so caught up in doing those things that I label them as serving God. And yes I may be doing things for God and working for Him and serving others in His name. But I get caught up in the accomplishment and I miss the main point. Jesus said that Mary chose the more important thing, she chose to set at the feet of Jesus. Not that preparing and eating dinner wasn’t important and that what Martha was doing was not needed. He was simply saying, in this moment, Mary has chosen what is most important. It would also would later cause Mary to be the one that is falling at Jesus’ feet and worshiping when she was surrounded with her brother’s death. Maybe it’s time that we learn to make time for Jesus. Take the time to set at his feet first and then take care of all the other things. Your to do list will still be there. There will always be people to serve, but how often do you have those moments to set at the feet of Jesus. Don’t miss those moments, don’t miss the point of all this. Don’t get so busy serving, and doing that you miss those intimate moments with Jesus.
