Different Page, Different Book

“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.”

Matthew 18:8-9 NKJV

My husband has preached a great sermon in the past called, “Flip the Page” all centered on how we need to turn the page on our life and go to the next chapter. Isn’t this how we live life sometimes is wishing we could just simply turn the page and everything would change. But for some simply going to the next chapter still involves most of the drama we had in the last chapter, it just continues on. Sometimes we have to make the drastic decision to choose a different book for our life. We have to step away from toxic relationships and toxic environments in order for our story to change. We can’t just place Jesus in the midst of our jacked up, messed up, tore up lives and expect Him to clear the slate and let us start again. No we have to make conscious decisions to step away from those people who are helping us be messed up. We have to remove ourselves from the situations and circumstances that are causing us to repeat our jacked up behaviors. We often time can’t simply go to a different page, we have to choose a whole new book for our life. You chose the current book, time to choose a new story for our lives, one that not only includes Jesus but one that puts in at the center of the story.
