“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”
Mark 11:22-23 NKJV
The first time I ever used an ax, I’m pretty sure my husband thought I was going to hurt myself and everything else around me. But to his surprise and mine I hit the exact spot I was aiming for. And I must say it felt pretty good to swing that ax, and it felt even better to not only see the results of my efforts when we had wood for our fireplace that winter, but to also know that I had accomplished the task. Our faith has the same ability as this ax has. It can tear down and cut up things that have entangled us, it can hit the exact spot we aim it at, and it can accomplish the task before it. The more we allow our faith to speak the stronger it becomes. If we keep it silent, we begin to struggle. Jesus himself told us, “Have faith in God, say to this mountain...” Faith has a voice. Faith testifies of Jesus Christ! Faith will defeat fear every time we allow it to speak. Fear tries to sneak in, it tries to overtake us, and consume our thoughts. It steals from us, it controls our life, it keeps us from speaking truth. When fear speaks it lies. But when faith speaks, it brings life. It brings hope in to focus. So the next time fear comes in and tries to lie to you, imagine yourself taking an ax and chopping it to pieces. And know that faith will destroy fear every time you use it!
