Comparison Shopping

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV

We do it all the time, compare one store’s prices and products to another. We have been trained to look for the best product and the best price. Which is great in a sense, we however have turned this into something we do in every area of our life. Everything from which bible is going to read the best, which church is going to make me feel good, which bible app gives me the prettiest pictures. We base everything we do off of how it makes us feel. We go from one thing to another until we get what we determine as the best product for the best price. Reality check, reading the word should not be easy on us, it should challenge us. Church is not there for your comfort, you are the church so if you don’t like something take a look in the mirror, bible apps were created to make you read the Bible more, not check it once a day. As Christians it’s time we stop with the comparison shopping, get in the word, let it change us, so that we in turn are better equipped to withstand the tactics of the enemy. Stop shopping and start digging in. It’s time to stop being consumer Christians and instead be producers.
