“And Samuel went no more to see Saul until the day of his death. Nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul, and the LORD regretted that He had made Saul king over Israel.”
I Samuel 15:35 NKJV
We so badly want the right person in our life, that we ignore the warning signs that this relationship is toxic. Even Samuel had emotionally attached himself to Saul, and mourned for the person he had been close to. We so desire for one person to fulfill that part in our life. We make the devastating mistake of making our identity all about that person. We end up hurt, empty and our walls built up, all because we keep allowing the wrong person to have way too much access to our inner man. We give them way too much control, you are ultimately responsible for you. How unfair of us to dump everything in us on one person and to place the responsibility of carrying our load on them. We can no longer place this heaviness on someone else and expect not to get hurt. We so want someone to be “our person”, how unbiblical this is. Only Jesus being all man and all God can carry the heaviness of your life. No man can carry the load of your life, even you cannot carry it by yourself, you need Jesus. Cast your cares upon Him. Let Him be your source. Pay attention to the warning signs that the Lord gives you when it’s time to not attach yourself too closely to one person. Stop pressing on when God has said, “stop relying on them, I’m here for you.” Let Jesus complete you, you become a much better person this way!
