A Made Up Mind

“casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,”

II Corinthians 10:5 NKJV

We think just because we do something long enough that it will become a habit. We even tell people if you do this for 21 days it will become a habit. Nothing becomes a habit until we tie ourselves emotionally to it. I hate drinking water, but in the spring and summer when I feel like I have lots of energy and feel healthy, guess what I drink a lot of, water! In the fall and winter when all I want is comfort food and to hibernate, I drink stuff that is not healthy for me. Now don’t get me wrong I try to drink water during that time, but I’m just not in to it. But when we tie ourselves emotionally to something we take it on and it becomes part of who we are, our routine, or a habit. So if you really want for Jesus to become a true part of your life, you can’t just read scripture and let it go in one ear and out the other. You have to tie yourself to Jesus, He has to become so important to you that you can’t live without Him. That every decision you make, you consult the Holy Spirit before you do it. Every thought you have ties back to a spiritual aspect, because ultimately that is what Paul tells us to do, “Bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.” We can’t just get up throw a few prayers toward Heaven, or read a quick scripture or devotion. The Word says we are to meditate on His Word. Jesus has to become such an important part of your life that you can’t go about your day without first talking to Him. It’s the power of a made up mind, when our mind becomes involved the rest of us follows!
